Empowering Community Health: LonGBoaT Wakefield at the Live Well Social Prescribing Event

Writer: LonGBoaT WakefieldLonGBoaT Wakefield

LonGBoaT Wakefield is pleased to share the recent visit of Trustees Lila and David S to Live Well's Social Prescribing Event, hosted at the Glasshoughton Community Centre.

Social Prescribing is an approach to health and wellbeing that connects individuals with non-medical support in their community. It recognises that health is influenced by a range of factors beyond medical treatment, including social, economic, and environmental factors. In an LGBT+ setting, Social Prescribing becomes especially crucial as it acknowledges and addresses unique challenges and needs within the community. During the event, Lila and David engaged in thoughtful discussions with various representatives from the Wakefield District. They explored ways to enhance support systems and building connections with other organisations to develop effective care strategies that prioritise inclusivity and accessibility for those in need, the interactions underscored the shared vision of improving community health and access to vital resources. We extend our gratitude to Live Well for hosting such an impactful event and look forward to the ongoing exchange of ideas that will help shape the future of social prescribing and community care in Wakefield.

Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, more inclusive tomorrow.
