Last week, Vice Chair Chris Hughes met with Rhona, a representative from Pontefract Arts Club, to discuss an exciting new collaboration to display artwork at our Community Gallery, on Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station. This partnership aims to bring more creative expression into our shared spaces and showcase the incredible talent of local artists.
About Pontefract Arts Club
Pontefract Arts Club has been an active part of the local community for over 30 years, providing a welcoming space for artists of all backgrounds to come together. While the club consists mainly of retired members, it remains open to all who have an interest in art, whether they are beginners or experienced creatives.
The club explores a wide variety of artistic media, producing works that range from realistic to imaginative pieces. More than just a creative outlet, the club serves as a place where art functions as therapy, helping members connect, express themselves, and find a sense of community.
For those interested in joining, the club charges a small membership fee. You can contact them via email at pontefractart@yahoo.com or visit their social media pages:
As Rhona is involved in art initiatives with other organisations, we discussed the possibility of a second or even a third collaboration. We are excited about the potential of these upcoming collaborations and look forward to seeing how art can continue to bring people together in Pontefract. Stay tuned for more updates as these projects take shape.
