Adopt a Planter Today! Transforming Wakefield Kirkgate with Community Support

Writer: LonGBoaT WakefieldLonGBoaT Wakefield

LonGBoaT Wakefield is excited to invite local businesses, organisations, and individuals to play an active role in enhancing the beauty of Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station through our Adopt a Planter scheme. By sponsoring planters and floral displays, you’ll help us create a greener, more welcoming environment for both passengers and the local community.

The Adopt a Planter initiative is part of the broader Wakefield Kirkgate Station Adoption Project, which is focused on improving the station’s overall appearance, supporting biodiversity, and fostering a sense of community pride. This scheme is modelled after successful programs run by other Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs) and Railway Station Adoption Groups across the country.

Why Sponsor a Planter?

Sponsoring a planter at Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station offers a range of benefits, both for you and the community:

  • Enhance the Station’s Environment: A well-maintained, vibrant space makes the station more inviting for passengers, local residents, and visitors.

  • Promote Sustainability: Your sponsorship supports local biodiversity, helps improve air quality, and contributes to a greener environment.

  • Strengthen Community Connections: By taking part, you’ll show your commitment to the community and help make the station a hub of pride for all.

  • Gain Visibility: Sponsors will receive recognition on their planter, giving you exposure to commuters and those passing through the station.

What Does Sponsorship Cover?

Your sponsorship will contribute to the following:

  • Planters: These will be provided by LonGBoaT Wakefield, carefully selected to suit the station’s environment.

  • Compost and Plants: We’ll use high-quality materials to create beautiful and sustainable displays.

  • Watering and Maintenance: Your planter will be maintained throughout the year to ensure it thrives.

  • Plaque with Sponsor Recognition: A plaque featuring your name or business will be placed on your planter.

Annual Sponsorship Fee

The cost to sponsor a planter is just £150 per year (April to March). This fee covers:

  • All planting materials (plants, compost, etc.)

  • Ongoing maintenance (watering, care)

  • A plaque featuring your name or business as the sponsor

  • A reduced rate of £100 for a consecutive year of sponsorship

A Chance to Give Back

This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses, individuals, and organisations to make a tangible difference to the local area. By sponsoring a planter, you’ll not only help transform Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station but also contribute to a more sustainable and vibrant community.

If you’re interested in sponsoring a planter or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with LonGBoaT Wakefield. We would love to have your support as we continue to work together to create a greener, more welcoming Wakefield Kirkgate!
